The Civil War Sewing Circle by Kathleen Tracy

Guess what I got in the mail today?

I think the title gave you the hint. LOL!!!

I just had to order this book.
I ordered it at Chapters.Indigo.ca
It got here in only two days.
I love fast shipping.
They didn't have the book yet in the local stores and I just couldn't wait.

I just love the stories and quilts that are shared in this book.
It is truly inspirational.
Thanks Kathleen for making such a wonderful book.
I will definitely make lots of projects from it.

Ahhhh! More Fabric....I love it!!

So, Yesterday I got a wonderful package in the mail. I ordered some fabric from Flair For Fabric because she had it on sale. Her store is closing, so I decided to just get a bunch before it was all sold out.

I bought some Amy Butler fabric and patterns.

Some Heather Bailey.......

Some Patty Young......

Here's a few more....don't you just love those pink trees. Those are my favorite.

So, I'm very spoiled.

I kind of blew my budget on this purchase.
But they are all one yard cuts and I got them at an amazing price.
They are designer fabrics. So they are amazing.

I've been sick the last two days. I was working evenings and it took everything I had to make it through my shifts. I'm off this weekend. So, I'm going to rest and hopefully get to work on some of my projects. I did work on my Shabby Roses blocks. Doing hand embroidery is always very relaxing for me. I can work on those even if I don't feel well. So, I'm going to be doing a lot of hand stitching this weekend.

I hope you are all well!!

Happy Stitching!

New Stuff!!!

Hi everyone!! I got a new washer and dryer today!!! YEAH!!!!!! I have been doing my laundry....some by hand and the rest at the laundrymat for the last four months. Awwh!! It's been a long four months. We finally were able to afford the washer and dryer we wanted and it was delivered today. Wow!!! What a difference. I've had so much extra work because of the laundry. We are five people....and you know how kids are. They dirty a lot of clothes. So, I've been happily doing my laundry all day.

I also got a few things in the mail that I had never showed on my blog. I had ordered some discount books from Martingale & Company. These were 5 books for $25 dollars. I didn't know what books I would get. But I'm happy with the ones I received.

I had also ordered a few bundles of fabric. I bought some the Authentic fabrics and some Nature-ology fabrics. I love both of these collections. I ordered these from the Fabricshoppe.

I also got fabric from Flair for Fabric: a fat quarter bundle of Jennifer Paganelli Dance with me "Sunrise" and a rose damask in red. I really love these too.

Did I say that I was addicted to buying fabric?

Got "Don't Look Now" patterns in the mail!!!

Hi everyone! I worked today, and haven't done any sewing yet tonight. But I did get some wonderful mail. I had ordered two patterns from Kellie at Don't Look Now. They are so wonderful. I just love these patterns. I'm hoping to make a few of these pillows for my daughters bedrooms. Aren't they just amazing. I don't know when I'll work on these, but I do have a lot of material that I can use for these. I wouldn't have to buy any. Hmmmmmm!!!!

A little bit of this....and that

Hi everyone, Sorry for not posting more. I've been having computer troubles. I'm still trying to figure some of the things out. Well, last week I got the first issue of the Quilter's Connection Magasine. This is a new Canadian quilting magazine. I subscribed to it a bit late to get the first issue. So, I bought the first issue from Laurraine at Patchwork Pottery's etsy shop. She is the designer of the pattern on the front cover. She even signed her pattern for me. She is so sweat. I love her pattern.

I also got my Cindy Lou Who Schnibbles pattern. I bought it from a shop that was a bit closer to where I live so that the post wouldn't take so long. It helped!!! I started cutting the pieces last night. I'm not using a charm pack for this. I'm just using material I have in my stash. It's going to be a Christmas table topper and I hope to use it as a gift.

My daughter's also been doing a little bit of hand stitching. She wanted me to put her work on my blog too. She embroidered  a cute little bird. So cute!!!

Well, I hope you all have a great day. I have to work this evening. I couldn't sleep last night so I'm really tired this morning. I may have to go lay down a bit before work. Otherwise it will be a long night.

Some stitching, shopping.....

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I had a busy day doing housework. It was a very hot, humid day again. I just hate the humidity. I don't do very well when it's so hot. I can't wait until fall is here. I did do a bit of shopping, after all the work I did. I thought I deserved it. So, my daughter and I went to a few quilt shops.

I bought some patterns that I just love. I had seen the Cider Mill Road pattern book on Jaybird Quilts, she had been working on some of the projects in the book and I just loved them. I remembered seeing this book at one of the local quilt shops, so I went and picked it up. It was there last copy and it was on sale. I was very happy. I also loved the little pincushion patterns "Schnibbles". These are so cute, and a good way to use up small scraps.
I then bought some Kansas Troubles to add to my collection. I plan to make a quilt with these in the near future. I also bought a bundle of fabrics that I want to use for my mini quilt swap. I had bought different fabric for it...but just couldn't get inspired to use it. So I bought something different. I also needed a few pale greens, so I got 2 fat quarters of that.
The night before last, my husband and I went to Chapters to look around and I bought an Australian Country Threads magazine "Stitchery edition" and a book called "Quilting for the first time". I just love the projects in this issue of Australian Country Threads. The quilting book has some cute projects in it, and a lot of really good tips. Even though I've done a lot of quilting, I've never taken any sewing or quilting classes. So, I still need tips to help me get through some issues.I've also been working on the second block of the Shabby Roses BOM. I'm almost done. Hopefully I will be done tomorrow. I'd like to get caught up on these blocks. I have block 3 ready to be stitched. I love these and can't wait to have them all done.Well, as you can see I've spent a lot of money and didn't finish any projects. Oh well!! I worked hard. So there....I hope you all have a great night. I have to work in the morning, so that's all for now.

Happy Stitching!!

I'm back!!! Oh yeah...forgot to tell you I was gone!

Hi everyone, I went on a little holiday. I was off work for four days. My inlaws had rented a cottage just out of town. So, we all decided to join them. It was such a great time off. The lake was beautiful. The weather was not too warm, but it was comfortable. Just perfect for me. The kids did lots of fishing. They had a great time too. They want to do it again. So we already booked a cottage for next summer. On another note, I bought fabric online last week. Okay....I know I don't need more fabric. But the price was right and I can't get this fabric at local quilt shops. I just couldn't resist. I'm addicted to fabric. I bought it from a Canadian Online Shop called Pink Panda Fabrics. It was my first time buying fabric online. I was kind of nervous, but since all the prices were in Canadian dollars I didn't have to do any conversions. Which put me a bit more at ease. But now that I had one good experience....who knows what I might buy next. Hmmmm!!! I need to do more sewing...less buying. I did work on my hexagon stars while I was at the cottage. I got another row done and half of another. So I've got five and a half rows done out of 15. Hmm....I still have a long way to go. But hey...I'm doing it all by hand...so I'm doing okay. I hope you like the fabric. It's just yummy. I don't know what I'm going to make with it. But I just love to look at it. I'll figure something out.

Happy Stitching!!

Di's Christmas "3" in August Challenge

Hi everyone!! I worked today. It was really hot and humid. Which really tested my patience. I had a lot of work to do and I was so excited to come home. I was all ready to go, I was tired.....but I couldn't find my car keys. I searched and searched...my co-worker searched and searched. I just couldn't find them. I was so frustrated. I said a little prayer to St. Anthony. He's the Saint that helps you find things. I said: "Please St. Anthony help me find my keys, I'm so tired and I want to go home." I turn around and look at my work bag. I look inside again. I have this little pocket on the inside of the bag that I put some papers in. I move the papers around and what do I find. My KEYS!!! AHHHH..........They were in my bag all along. It took me 20 minutes to find them. I was really tired. But thankfully I did find them. My Mom always told me that if I lost something to pray to St. Anthony. It always works. I don't know why I waited so long to do it.

Anyways, I found a cute blog today. Di from Quilting is Blissful is having Christmas "3" in August Challenge. She is challenging us to make three Christmas projects in August with her. I had already purchased some Christmas fabric to add to the fabric I already had and bought the nicest Christmas pattern booklet. So I had already decided that I was going to make some Christmas projects in August. This Challenge is just an added bonus. I haven't started any yet. So they are all going to be started from scratch. I can't wait to get started. Well, I hope you all have a good night. I'm going to bed now. I have to work tomorrow evening and I have lots to do before I go in.
Happy Stitching!

My 14th Wedding Anniversary!!

Hi everyone! Today is my 14th wedding anniversary. My husband and I spent the day together and went out for a nice romantic dinner. It was really nice. Wow!! I'm really can't believe we've been married that long. Time really does fly. I think.....where has the time gone. We are still happily in love. We do have our moments...but, we are both talkers. So we have good communication. That has helped us through a whole bunch of struggles. We got married when we we're both really young. I was still in high school. We beat the odds and I'm hoping to celebrate another 50 or more years with him. I love him very much. He is a great husband.

I bought a few books last night. I took the kids to the book store because Grandma had given them money. My daughter loves to read...so I just couldn't resist buying a few for myself. I bought "Sister's Choice" by Emilie Richards, and "The Quilter's Kitchen" by Jennifer Chiaverini. I just started to read "Sister's Choice". I'm liking it up to now. I'll let you know what I think when I'm done. Well, I have to go to bed. I'm really tired and it's late.

A new book and Magazine!!!

Hi everyone, I didn't do any sewing today. I had a huge migrane headache. I rested most of the day. But this evening I took the kids to Chapters Book Store and I purchased the book "Material Obsession" and the "Patchwork & Stitching Magazine". I'm so excited. I've been wanting to buy that book for the longest time and I finally just did it. I don't have very many quilting books and magazines. Most of my inspiration comes from you guys, through your wonderful blogs. But I do like to have certain books and magazines for those times I like to just sit quietly and look at all these beautiful projects. I just have to figure out which project I'm going to try first. Tomorrow, I'm going to a quilting workshop day organized through Wilton Creek Fabrics. There will be 8 little workshops. I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm excited to go. It has to do with quilting so that's good enough for me. I'll let you know tomorrow how it went. Well, that's all for today folks. I hope you all have a great evening.

Happy Stitching!!

Fabric received and purchased on the weekend!

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I wanted to share some of the fabric I received and purchased on the weekend. My Mom was so generous. She gave me some wonderful quilting cottons. Most of them are half yard cuts. I just love them all. I also bought some fabric at the little quilting shop in the towm my Mom lives in. They are really cute. On my way home from Northern Ontario, I stopped in Brockville at Taylor Sewing Center and bought some really great fat quarters to add to my stash. They have lots of wonderful browns. I was in need of those. The others were on sale and I couldn't resist. Then I stopped at Picket Fences, also in Brockville and purchased a bundle of fat quarters. I just love the colors and I will be using these for a girls baby quilt I was asked to make. The other two fabrics, my daughter chose them. She loves aqua's. As you can see, I came home with some wonderful fabrics. I'm so excited to use them. Have a great day everyone.

Happy Stitching!!
