A Blackbird Gathering, a finished quilt

I finally finished this quilt.
I free motion quilted it with my Janome 1600p-db. It worked like a charm. I also made a matching mini table topper quilt with the leftover strips. It's super cute.
Here they are together!
I'm glad to have this off my list of UFO's.

Again, this was all made from cotton and wool from my stash. Yeah!!!
 I hope you like it!!

I have a finished flimsy and some mug rugs

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Our Christmas was quiet, which was nice. We didn't go overboard with gifts this year and our kids were all very happy with their gifts. It was nice to reduce our stress of buying all the latest gadgets and just keep it simple.

I did do a bit of sewing when I could sneak it in. I made two mug rugs out of scraps of fabric.
These were easy and fun to make. This project satisfied my sewing itch while I was waiting for my Christmas turkey to cook.

This morning I also put the borders on the quilt "A Blackbird gathering" by Cheri Payne. I love this little quilt.
Now I just need to go buy some batting to finish it. I'm all out of batting.

I'm going to work on my scrappy medallion quilt today too. Hopefully I can finish the round 6 today. We will see how it goes.

Making progress...

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to move some of my projects forward. You all know I have many on the go.

The first one is my Buttermilk Basin Mystery 2016 quilt. I finally prepped the "W" block and the large snowman block. I sewed all these blocks together. I still need to hand stitch these two blocks. But at least they are ready.

The second quilt is A Blackbird Gathering by Cheri Payne. I prepped the top block, bordered it and sewed it to the main body of the quilt. I still need to hand stitch the appliqué. I also need to sew on the borders. I did start stitching this one though.

The third quilt I made progress on is my Scrappy Medallion Quilt. I started making blocks for the next border. This border is made up of maple leaf blocks on a light background. These blocks are 6 inch finished and are made the same way as the centre maple leaf blocks. I'll update you more as I get further along.

That's what I've been working on. I've been super busy lately so I just get a bit done here and there when I can.

Hope you like my progress!

Hi everyone,

I finished hand stitching the last two blocks for A Blackbird Gathering by Cheri Payne.

Here's block 4

And here's block 5

Now I just need to wait for the finishing details to be released by Cheri.

A Blackbird Gathering quilt top and my new quilting frame

Hi everyone,

I've been pretty productive lately.
Today, I got block #4 and #5 of the Blackbird Gathering quilt designed by Cheri Payne prepped for hand stitching.
I also made the log cabin blocks that are part of the pattern. I made them in the style of courthouse steps instead. I got the top all sewn together.

I love how is turning out.
I'll stitch the last two blocks, then I'll be able to quilt it.

In other news, I bought a second hand Gracie quilting frame.
It's the first version of this frame.
I finally set it up in my sewing room today. I had to rearrange all my stuff to make it fit. I haven't tried it yet. But hopefully I'll be able to try it out soon.

Right now it's great to hang Quilts in progress. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Slow stitching Sunday

I've been working at stitching my blocks for A blackbird gathering BOM by Cheri Payne. I finished the first block and I'm almost done the second block. I'm using DMC thread for the stitching. It's inexpensive and I have lots of it.

Here's the first block

And here's the second block

I'm loving these blocks. I'm going to continue to work in these today.

I'm linking to Slow Stitching Sunday.
