I have a finished flimsy and some mug rugs

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Our Christmas was quiet, which was nice. We didn't go overboard with gifts this year and our kids were all very happy with their gifts. It was nice to reduce our stress of buying all the latest gadgets and just keep it simple.

I did do a bit of sewing when I could sneak it in. I made two mug rugs out of scraps of fabric.
These were easy and fun to make. This project satisfied my sewing itch while I was waiting for my Christmas turkey to cook.

This morning I also put the borders on the quilt "A Blackbird gathering" by Cheri Payne. I love this little quilt.
Now I just need to go buy some batting to finish it. I'm all out of batting.

I'm going to work on my scrappy medallion quilt today too. Hopefully I can finish the round 6 today. We will see how it goes.

Hi everyone,

I did it! I have a finish.
I didn't know if I would get any of my projects done this month with a new puppy. But I managed to squeeze some time here and there to get it done! Yeah!!!
Here's a photo outside on the snow.

Here's a photo taken indoors.
I hope you like it!

Thanks so much Stacey @ Buttermilk Basin for sharing such a beautiful pattern with us.

Slow Stitching Sunday...

Hi everyone,

I worked all this weekend.
But after work I managed to do some slow stitching. Tonight I finished stitching the top block of my quilt "A Blackbird Gathering ".
Now I only have to sew the border on. So excited about it.

Last week I made a little bowl filler pillow with an embroidered block that I stitched in 2009. It was nice to get this block made up into something nice.
This is a free embroidery pattern on this website.

I hope you like it!

Slow stitching Sunday

I've been working at stitching my blocks for A blackbird gathering BOM by Cheri Payne. I finished the first block and I'm almost done the second block. I'm using DMC thread for the stitching. It's inexpensive and I have lots of it.

Here's the first block

And here's the second block

I'm loving these blocks. I'm going to continue to work in these today.

I love these wool Applique blocks. They are so cute.  Here are close ups of my other blocks.

Here they are all together. Aren't they cute?
I hope you like them!

Shabby Roses Quilt is done!!!

Well, this quilt has been in the making for a while.

I started making the blocks in August 2009,
and finally finished it yesterday April 4th, 2012.

The blocks were designed by Jenny of Elephantz.
It was originally a free BOM.
It's no longer available for free, but you can purchase it on her website.

I changed the setting of the blocks.
I wanted a different look then the one Jenny had designed.

My quilt is 43 inches wide by 40 inches long.
All the blocks are hand embroidered and hand appliqued.
I used fusible web to applique my shapes.
The quilt was machine quilted by me.
I used my old Kenmore sewing machine to quilt it.
The binding is all done by machine.

I washed it yesterday and now it is so soft and crinkly.
Just the way I love it.
I put a sleeve on the back, so now it is ready to hang.

I'm keeping this one.
I've had a few requested or hints from a few people who wanted it.
But, this one is all mine.
I just love it!!!

I hope you like it too.

Since I have to work all weekend,
I will wish you all a very Happy Easter!!!

Hugs

Shabby Roses quilt almost done!!!!

Hi everyone,

I know it's been a while since I blogged.
March was a rough month for me.
I was extremely busy.
Then, I started getting so tired, then just plain worn out!!
I didn't do a lot of sewing.
I was having a hard time sleeping and just didn't feel well at all.

But, it's a new month.
Yeah!!!
It should be better, since I have a week off coming after Easter.
I do work all of Easter weekend. :(

Today, I got some energy and finished quilting my Shabby Roses Quilt.
I've had this top done since July 2010.
It's about time I get this finished.
I just need to put the binding on and I'm done.
Here it is.

And a close up of the quilting.....

This pattern was a free block of the month provided by Jenny of Elephantz.
I just love it!!
I hope you like it too.

Some stitchery's that others have made with my pattern.

Hi everyone,

I'm still not feeling that great.

But, I'm going to keep this post positive. Since I've been sick, I have been going over a bunch a blogs and just roaming around blog land for inspiration. I really love seeing what everyone is up to. It's just so inspiring.

Then, I came across of few people who posted pictures of projects they made using my free stitchery pattern: A touch of Autumn.

So, I thought I would share those with you today.

The first one is made by Sara. Her blog is called "Joy in Everything"

Didn't she do an amazing job with it? I love it!!!

The next one is by Di. Her blog is called "Quilting is Blissful".

She also made it into a little wall hanging. Isn't it cute? Love it!!!!

The next one is by Phyllis. Her blog is called "Crumbs of Happiness"

She made a wonderful little cushion with hers. It's just gorgeous!! I love it!!

If you have made a project using any of my tutorials or patterns. Please let me know. I would love to see them.

It really makes my day.

Four Gifts of Grace Blocks done! & Charming Girls Club goals!!!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I finished two more blocks of the Gifts of Grace BOM by Val Laird. So, now I have four blocks completed. I have them pinned to my Snippets quilt in my sewing room. It's my make shift design wall. I really have to get a real design wall soon.
I have started the fifth block. I've got quite a bit done. But those letters take a while and I haven't started those yet. I hope you like my blocks.

I'm also part of the Charming Girls Club and the theme for the next two months is Quilting the Quilt. I really need this theme. LOL!!! I have many quilts that need quilting. So my goal is to quilt at least 3 quilts by the end of our session. If I get more done, then they will be a bonus.

The quilts I hope to get done are:

These are not in any particular order of importance.
I just want to get them done.

These are also not the only projects that I want to work on during this time.

1) I hope to get a lot done on the Gifts of Grace BOM which I shared above. These are going to be for a Christmas gift. So I need to get them done.

2) I want to get another little quilt done for my guilds mini quilt auction being held in November.

3) My daughter wants a bigger pencil case. She loves the one I made, but she has a lot of pencils. So...."Bigger" she says....LOL!!!

So, that's it. Well......that I know of anyway. You know me......I like to start new projects even though I really should finish the old projects.

I hope you all have a great night.

"A Blessed Day" Wall Hanging quilt

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all doing well. I finished the binding on my little Christmas wall hanging. I decided to call it "A Blessed Day", seeing that we were so blessed to have Mary give birth to baby Jesus and that Joseph was there to support and love them through it all. I still need to put a hanger on the back of it, so that it hangs properly. I just did some simple machine quilting. I only have my old machine and my walking foot to work with. I didn't really want to hand quilt it. Thanks for the comments about the border. I decided that a simple dark blue border would tie everything together nicely. This quilt is 15 inches square. Such a great size for a wall hanging. Well, I hope you like it!!!

An Accuquilt GO!! giveaway at Sweet P Quilting and some progress....

There is another wonderful giveaway going on at Sweet P Quilting for the amazing Accuquilt GO! Cutter. I would just love to win one of these. It would really make making quilts so much faster. You know how little time we all have to quilt. So go check out her tutorial and giveaway!!!

I also have been working on that little project I gave you a sneak peak the other day. Right now it's just a 12.5 inch unfinished block. I'm not sure what to do for a border. Maybe I should trim it a little smaller, than put a border. It's just going to be a little wall hanging. I hand blanket stitched around all the pieces, than added a bit more stitching. I made this from one of my original drawings. I also have a second one on the go. But I will machine stitch all the pieces and see how that turns out.

Let me know what you think I should do for the border. I need some suggestions.

Hey! Maybe this will end up a little pattern for me to share....you never know ;). So keep coming back to check!!

A little gift from me to you!

Well, I finally took the plunge and designed a little stitchery pattern for all of you. I made a little wall hanging with the one that I made. It's just a little fall design. It can be used on a pillow, a journal cover, or a wall hanging. I'm sure some of you can make it more fancy than mine. I may add more details to mine yet, but that's all I've done up to now. I did mine in blackwork. I really like it that way. But it would look great in color too I think.
So, I made my first PDF file. It's not perfect. I'm sure I will get better as I make more. If you have any questions feel free to email me. I will do my best to answer any of your questions. The file is free to download. This stitchery is to be used for your own personal use or to make a gift. Please do not use it on items to sell. Here is the link below.

I hope you all like it. If you do make something with it, please send me your photos so that I can see it.

Between Charming Friends quilt top done

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good day. The weather was gorgeous today. I went for a nice walk early this morning and it was so relaxing and cool.

I also finished my Between Charming Friend quilt top. It was supposed to be done a few weeks ago, but I just didn't have the time. I really like how it turned out though. The fabric is "Make Life...." by Sweetwater for Moda. I really love this collection. It's really modern and sweet. Now I just have to baste, quilt and bind.

I also have my second block for the Gifts of Grace BOM done too. I really like this one too. So sweet.

Here is another picture from the cottage we rented.
This is late in the evening. Such a nice view of the lake.

Have a good night!

Gifts of Grace Block 1 and July OPAM finish!

Hi everyone, I did a bit of stitching the last couple days. I got the first block from Val Laird's free BOM Gifts of Grace. These blocks are gorgeous. I've been wanting to start them for a while now, but just had too much on the go. I'm going to try really hard to get caught up on these, because I would like this little quilt to be a Christmas gift. I know someone who would just love a quilt like this. We will see how that goes. I hope you like it.

Well, I only got one finish for the July OPAM. But it was a big one. My queen size Jack-in-the-pulpit Quilt was a very big project for me this month. I put in about 50 hours of work just on this quilt in July. I was very tired and did take a break from sewing when I was done. But I'm very proud that I finished it in time and that my girlfriend and her new husband loved it. I showed it to many of my siblings before the wedding and now I have half a dozen request for queen size quilts. I told them that they would have to get in line. But one of these years they would probably end up with one. I have such a big family, with 10 brothers and sisters. I just can't get that many done, that fast. LOL!!!

One more night shift to go. Ughhhh! I was so tired last night. I really struggled to stay awake after 4 am. I don't usually have such a hard time. I slept longer today. Hopefully that helps!

Have a good night!

Borders and a Sweet gift!

Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a nice day. I finally put the borders on my Shabby Roses BOM quilt top. I have had the blocks put together for quite a while now. So today I wanted to get a little farther along with this project. This is definitely one of my favorite quilts that I have made. I just love these blocks designed by Jenny of Elephantz blog. They are adorable.

I also received a sweet gift in my mail box from Michelle at Dresden Quilter. I had given her a tiny piece of fabric about a month ago, so that she could finish one of her Bee blocks. It was just a tiny little piece. She bought me a fat quarter and a card to say thanks. Wow!!! I was so blown away. This was so generous of  you Michelle. I didn't mind sharing with you and the gift was not necessary. But I am very grateful. Thanks so much!!!!! It goes perfectly with the two other fat quarters that I bought from the same collection.
Well, I'm working night shift for the next three nights. I'm going try to do a bit of stitchery this weekend. I did want to do some hand quilting but realized that I don't have enough bigger pieces of fabric to do the backing on the quilts. The fabrics that I do have are just NOT the right colors either. Hmmm......more shopping! LOL!!!

Have a good night everyone!

Santa Mini Christmas quilt finished and great mail!!!

I finished another gift today. It is a Santa Mini Quilt.
I used the free pattern Christmas Eve from Kaaren at The Painted Quilt.
It was the First Friday Freebie for December.
She used it on a stocking but I decided to just make a mini quilt with it.
I love the way it turned out. It is going to make a lovely gift.

I also recieved the package I won from Sinta at the Pink Pincushion.
I had totally forgot about this package.
So when the mail man delivered it, I had no idea what I was receiving.
Then, I saw her name on it and remembered I won her giveaway.
I ripped it open as fast as I could.
I love, love, love it.
The book is amazing. It as some wonderful ideas in it.
I just love French General.
The pincushion is wonderful. It is my favorite.
I love the ribbon Sinta used. The little card wallet is wonderful too.
This fabric is so wonderful.
I sat for about an hour, reading through the book and having a coffee.
I needed that break. It came just at the right time.

Thanks Sinta!!!! I love it!!!

Tonight I have another project that I need to work on.
I have to get some laundry done too.
I am doing quite well, getting things done.
I am very happy with the handmade gifts I have made up to now.
Well, that is all for now. Take care!

A mini quilt done and an ornament!!!

I had a busy day today.
I worked, then went out of town with my husband
for three hours to pick up a guitar my husband traded.
We then picked up the kids from the inlaws, and came home at about 8 pm.
I brought my stitching with me on the ride
and managed to stitch the free pattern that was posted on Gail Pan Designs Blog.
I really love this little stitchery. Thanks Diane for suggesting it to me yesterday.
Because I was looking for a stitching project to make.
I decided to give this as a gift. I quilted it by machine.
I think it turned out pretty cute.
And I got this little quilt done in one day.
Love it!!!

I also made a little ornament I designed myself.
It is my first prototype. It needs a bit of adjusting.
But I still really like it.
It is very simple, and did not take very long to make.
I plan to make a set of six little stitched ornaments with a different word on it.
I think it is going to be a nice addition to my tree.
 I hope you like it.

It is almost 1:00 am. So I better go to bed.
I have to be up in 4 hours to work.

A cute little Reindeer Stitchery!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well.
Today, I organized some of my sewing area.
I don't have a sewing room and my stuff was kind of getting out of control.
So, I spent about four hours today organizing my stuff
so that it's more organized and accessible.
There is still some work to be done. But it looks a lot better.
I also made a small Christmas Stitchery today.
I'm going to be turning it into an ornament.
I used a free pattern that I got online.
Unfortunately, I can't remember what site I got it from.
I'll have to look around to see if I can find it. If I do, I'll let you know.
I hope you like it.

Edited November 23, 2009: I found the free embroidery pattern online. It's from Andrea Zeill at Badbirds blog. She had the free embroidery pattern posted in December of 2007. Here is the link.
Happy Stitching!!

Finished Block 5,6 and 7 of Shabby Roses BOM

I hope you are all having a nice day!
I finished a few blocks the last couple of days.
They are for my Shabby Roses BOM.
I finished block 5, 6, and 7.
I'm very happy about that.
Now I have the first 8 blocks done.
Only 4 more to go. Yeah!!!

I'm feeling much better today.
Thanks to all of you who commented about that.
I had some kind of stomach virus. It was not pretty.
But I'm over it now. I'm so glad.

I had a really good day today. The kids all had planned activities today.
So, my husband and I were left on our own.
We spent some time together and went out to a concert tonight.
We had a great time.  I hope you all a great day.

Happy Stitching!!!

Hugs Ariane
