The start of my Winter White Schnibbles quilt top

Well, I'm participating in the "Year of Schnibbles" and the Winter White pattern was the pattern that was chosen for the month of September. Unfortunately, I couldn't get this pattern locally and had to order it online. You know how the mail can be sometimes. Often you get your order really quick and then other times it takes forever. Well....this was one of those times. I just got my pattern in the mail yesterday. I received it at 11:30 am and then had to leave for work. When I got home I was way too tired to work on it. So this morning I got up early and made all the flying geese blocks. But then I had to go to work again. So tonight when I got home, I made three blocks out of the nine. I'm too tired to do anymore. They are not perfect but I still really like them.

It's past midnight now. I have to go to bed, because I have to get up early with the kids. It's always busy. I hope you are all well. Take care!!!

I did some stitching....more fabric....Blogger Quilt Festival

Hi everyone, I had to work today. It was a long day and I'm still fighting that cold that I've had since Tuesday. I hope it goes away soon. I did finish the stitching that I showed you a sneak peak of the other day. I'm using the Charming Bed Pocket pattern that Cori Blunt made for the Stitcher's Angel Swap. I just love this little stitchery. She is such a great designer. I love her new blog. You should go check it out. So now that I'm done the stitching, I'll be able to put it all together. I used coloring pensils to color the design on my fabric. I then painted some textile fabric medium over it to make it washable. Heat set it. Then embroidered around it. This is my first time trying this out. I really enjoyed doing it and it has turned out really nice.

I also got some more fabric in the mail yesterday. It's the "Apple" fabric by Timeless Treasures. I really love this fall fabric. So nice. I can't wait to make a quilt with it. I plan to use it to make a lap quilt. I purchased this fabric from the fabric shoppe.

On another note, Amy from Park City Girl is having her second Blogger Quilt Festival soon. I participated in the first one and had a great time. So, I'm spreading the word.

I hope you all have a good night. I have four more days to work. Then I'm off. Can't wait. I didn't get my Winter White Schnibbles pattern in the mail yet. I'm really disappointed because I was really looking forward to getting it done for this month end. Maybe it will come on Monday and I can get at least the top done for the Sept Year of Schnibbles project. Oh well....what can I do....I couldn't get it locally.

Happy Stitching!!

Two packages in the mail today!!!

Hi everyone, I worked evenings tonight. It was a really long day. I had to take my oldest to the hospital this morning because he injured his back playing football, then had to rush to get to work on time. Then I had a so much work to do. It was a long night.

On the positive side, I received two wonderful packages in the mail today. The first one is from the Good Ol' Summertime Mini Quilt Swap. I received this wonderful little quilt from Vanessa. She stitched a little scene in the center of the quilt. It's so cute. Thanks Vanessa for the lovely quilt.

I had also won a giveaway a couple weeks ago from one of my favorite craft blogs "Paper and String". I received the cutest little felt brooch from Sarah. I love it. She also sent this cute little card with a picture of one of her softies. Thanks so much for the lovely gift. My daughter has claimed this brooch. This is her favorite blog. She checks it almost everyday.

I'm so very fortunate. I just love all the sharing that goes on in blogland. Thank you both for such lovely gifts. It really made my day.

Happy Stitching!!!

Trying to fix a crooked strip on the backing of my quilt....AAHH!

Okay, when I showed you my Beatrix Potter quilt the other day, I only showed you the front. Well.....I kind of made a big mistake on the back. I tried to be all fancy and put a stripe on the back like a lot of you do. I thought I lined it up properly. I basted, then quilted the top. I kept checking my tension on the back...it was looking good. I got the top all quilted and I'm all proud of myself. Then I flip it over to check the back....and OH NO!!!! It's crooked. My stripe is crooked!!! AHHHHH! I was very disappointed. I wanted to cry. I really had worked so hard on this quilt. I didn't want to pull all the quilting out because it would leave a million little wholes all over. I had done a really good job with the quilting too. I had worked for 4 hours straight quilting it on my little tiny machine. Well, I had decided to just put the binding on it and leave it. I finished it, but just couldn't live with myself leaving it like that. So, I kept thinking what I could do to make it better. So, I decided to put some appliques on the back. So now I have a little hedgehog going down the road towards a beautiful tree. It's still not perfect, but I did what I could. I'm more at peace with it now. So that's what I've been working on all week. I hand blanket stitched around all my appliques. But NOW I'm officially done. I'm not going to try to fix it more. It will just drive me nuts. So, I have to put in the mail soon and send it out. Otherwise....you never know what I could add to it. I have other projects that I need to work on.

On another note, I saw these two little remnants of fabric on etsy the other day. They were on the tliss shop.I just had to have them. They are so cute. They got here so quick and the seller added a few vintage buttons and a fusible applique.

Well, now I can finally work on something else. I've got so many projects to work on. I've got to get to them. I hope you all had a great day. I work all weekend. So I hope to get a bit of sewing done after my shifts.

2 more Stitcher's Angel projects done!!

Today I finished two more Stitcher's Angel projects. I really like how they turned out. I love finishing things. It feels so good. I have so many things on the go. I have to finish more things before I start new ones. I want to get my swap items done though so that I don't have to worry about it. I finished the stitching on the little bag for the Stitcher's Angel Swap. That was project #1. I didn't do the projects in the proper order, but I plan to finish that one tonight.

I really love this weeks projects with the wool felt. I've never used wool felt and I don't have any. I'm going to have to go check out the local stores and see what they have. Maybe they have starter packs or something.

I won another giveaway. I'm so excited. It's from Fahrenheit 350. It's a sample treat. I can't wait to get it. The deserts on her blog look so....delicious. You should check out her blog.

Well, I hope you all have a great day. Take care

I joined the local quilt guild

Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a great day. I worked today. I had a good day, just busy. Last night I went to my first quilt guild meeting. I decided to join the guild. There was a guest speaker at the meeting. Her name is Helen Fujiki. She's from Toronto, Ontario and makes amazingly beautiful Japanese inspired quilts. They were really remarkable. You should go to her website and see more of her work. Here's the link. I got to visit with Michelle from Dresden Quilter. It was really nice to see her again. I showed my Mini quilt and my Beatrix Potter quilt for the show and tell. I was really nervous. But they were well received.

I mailed out my Good Ol' Summertime mini quilt to my swap partner today. I took a few pictures of the finished quilt. I hope you like it. I had a hard time letting it go because it was my best quilting so far. I'm really proud of how well it turned out. I really hope my partner likes it.

Happy Stitching!!

My first stitchers angel project complete!

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great day. I did house work today, and a bit of stitching in between things. I finished my first stitchers angel project. I think it turned out nice. I did the needle wallet by Cinderberry Stitches. I hope you like it. I did it in darker fabric than the pattern asked. But I like the way it turned out. I didn't have any pellon, so I used some left over batting that I had. I love the burgundy fabric. It's one of my favorite fabrics from my stash. I'm going to have to go buy more. I only bought a fat quarter. But it's so lovely. I want to use it in some projects for myself as well. I hope my partner will like it.

Happy Stitching!!

Beatrix Potter Log Cabin quilt done!!

Hi everyone, I finished my Beatrix Potter Log Cabin quilt. I just put the last stitches in the binding a few minutes ago. I still need to make a label for it, but otherwise it's done. I really love this quilt. It was fun to buy all those fabrics. I literally did a shop hop for all those fabrics. I purchased fabric from every quilt shop in the Kingston and Brockville area. I paper pieced all the blocks, and machine quilted it myself. It was a challenge to quilt it, but I think it looks good. I didn't have any puckering in the front, and only a little bit of puckering in one corner on the back. So that's pretty good for me. I hope you like it. I love the colors in this one. It just makes me smile to look at it.

Happy Stitching!

A bit of quilting and a new free BOM

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great day. Today was a beautiful day. The weather was wonderful. I did spend some time quilting today. I decided to quilt my Beatrix Potter Log Cabin quilt myself. I just couldn't send it out. I don't know why. So, I decided to just go ahead and do it myself. It's far from perfect. I find it hard to quilt anything bigger than a mini quilt on my machine. It's just a basic machine and there's not much room to work. I think my Brother and his wife will like it though. They will know that I worked really hard on this one. I still have to put the binding on it. That will have to wait until tomorrow. I sewed enough for one day.

I was on Dorothy Baker Designs Blog today and found out that she is having a free stitchery BOM called "Sweet Nostalgia" that starts on Sept 15th. She is also having a giveaway. Go check it out. It looks like its going to be really cute.

My daughter made another pincushion!!

My daughter had so much fun making the first pincushion, that she had to make another one. She designed this one herself. She did it while I was a work. I got home from work the other night and found her stitching away at this little square. She finished it. I helped her do the blind stitch after it was stuffed. She did all the rest herself. She decided to send it to my Mom as a surprise gift. She even made her a little card. I think it's really cute. She didn't fuse the flower petals, she just stitched them down the center of the petals with embroidery thread. I hope you like it.
