A finished quilt top

Hi everyone,

I finally finished putting the border on my Arkansas Crossroads quilt and it is now a finished quilt top!!
I’m so excited about that!!

This is a big quilt. It’s 96 inches square. I’m going to send it out to be quilted by a long arm quilter. I’m not up to pushing this big quilt through my domestic machine.

I’m keeping this one for myself. It’s going to be what I call a “visitors” quilt. I’ll take it out and put it on the bed when visitors come to stay.

I need a few of these bed quilts for our house, since the kids took all the bed quilts with them when they moved. So now I’m left with beds without quilts. Can’t have that! Lol!

So, my next scrappy bed quilt top is in the works.
The pattern is a free sew along that was held by Diane of Butterfly threads blog. It’s the scrappy star. I have a lot of the blocks done already. I’m starting to assemble it now.

Here’s what have so far.

This is just the centre. I have a lot to do still, but I’m going to try to get it done soon.

Boxing week fabric purchases

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well. I know the flu has been going around like crazy and I’ve done my best not to get sick. I’ve been working a lot of night shifts lately. I struggle when I work nights. I can’t sleep. I feel exhausted all the time. I don’t get anything done because my brain doesn’t work.

Oh well, I did add quite a bit of fabric to my stash from all those boxing week sales. It was fun receiving packages in the mail.

I did buy some fabric at my local shop Stitch by Stitch. Some Kona black and white, plus a few more blacks and off white prints to add to my collection.

These are half yards except for the Kona which I purchased 3 metres of each. The fabric on the bottom is a flannel I bought to back a baby quilt.

The next bunch I ordered from Mad About Patchwork. I love all these modern prints. I use a lot of blues. So I got quite a few of those. These were all in the sale section, and are fat quarters. Love them all.

The next batch came from Fabric Sparks. These were also all from the sale section. Three bundles of fat quarters and some half yards. I love all these modern prints.

Then, I ordered some cute prints from Fabric Please. These were also in the sale section. I bought some children prints to go in a boy quilt as I didn’t have many of these in my stash. These are half yards.

Then I ordered a big order of fat quarters from Canadian National Fabric. These are traditional prints. Lots of blacks, blues, reds, greens. I use these colours a lot. They will be used up no problem. Again, these were all on sale.

I did buy more fabric at another local quilt shop, but I put it in my stash before I took a picture. Oh well.

It was fun adding new fabric to my stash. I hadn’t done much shopping last year and I felt good about getting all these. I spoiled myself. I know. But it was fun. Lol!

Now, I just need to get back to feeling like myself so that I can sew. My motivation has been low from working all those night shifts.

My Arkansas Crossroads Variations quilt top progress

Hi everyone!!

I’ve been working on my Arkansas Crossroads Variations quilt top. I made the blocks for this top during the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017.

I finally got all the blocks sewn together today. This has 49 blocks in a 7x7 layout. I made 4 blocks a month for 12 months, plus one to give me 49.

I want this top a bit bigger. So I will make some low volume 9-patch squares for the border to finish the top, I’m going to start those tomorrow.

I’m really loving the look of this top so far. I hope you like it too!

2017 in review

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I would like to share a review of my makes of 2017. I did complete a lot of projects. I didn’t finish too many UFO’s, but I’m hoping to get a few more done in 2018.

Here are some of the larger quilts I made.

Then I have a lot of smaller quilts, table runners, placemats, mug rugs, pincushions, needle keepers, project bags and such.

I’m pretty happy with all the quilting and sewing I did in 2017. I hope that I can be as successful in 2018. Wishing you all the best for the New Year!!
