A little open-wide pouch

Hi everyone,

Tonight I decided to make a small Christmas gift.
I'd been meaning to try out Noodlehead's Open-Wide pouch tutorial for a while.
I thought it would make a great gift.

So, this is my first time making this pattern.
I played around with my 1.5 inch scraps and came up with the idea for the front of the bag.
I think it looks cute.

The little squares finish at 1 inch.
I like the stem and leaves going up the side.
They were fun to make.

Here's a few more pictures.

All the fabric came from my stash.

This is the perfect size for a make-up bag.
I will try making a few of the larger sizes.
This is the smallest size in her tutorial.

I hope you like it.

A journal cover

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well.
I'm still not 100% recovered from the flu bug I had.
It was a nasty bug.
I got a really bad sinus infection with it.
I'm still trying to get over that part of it.
At least my cough is not as bad now.

I was supposed to get company this weekend,
then go to a baby shower.
But all that didn't happen.
I just wasn't feeling well enough.
And didn't want to spread an germs to a mama to be.
I did manage a little sewing.
I made a little journal cover.
I think it's cute.

I made the hexagon flowers using the english paper piecing method.
Then appliqued them by hand to the background.
Added some hand embroidery.
Just a little project.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Hugs

A finish and my beautiful tulips....

I finished my hand quilted table topper. I am very pleased with myself. I had a hard time at the beginning of this project. I struggled with the borders and ended up tearing it apart and putting plain borders on it. Then, I thought....it's too plain. So I decided to hand quilt it. That way it would have a bit more personality. I really love how it turned out. I signed my name at the back and embroidered it, instead of putting a label on it. This is a gift for a friend and it will be traveling to the other side of the world tomorrow. It is finally going in the mail. I hope my friend likes it.

It was so nice and warm here today. I worked in my flower bed and decided to take a picture of some of my tulips. I love spring and when my tulips start to bloom it just makes me so happy. Aren't they beautiful?

I hope you all had a good day. I hope to get more sewing done this week. We will see how it goes.

A Bingo Bag!!!

I hope everyone has been having a good day. I did a bunch of running around this morning. Then my inlaws took the kids skating. So, I thought I would make my Mother-in-law the Bingo bag she had asked me to make her. She loves bingo. She goes a couple of times a week. She wins almost everytime she goes, unless I go with her. We never win when I go. So, I`ve resigned myself to staying home. She has been helping us out a lot lately. So I thought it would be a nice little gift to say thanks for all she as done. I got the pattern for free from the Sew Sisters web site. It was really easy to follow and came together in just over an hour.

I`m going to try to do a bit more sewing tonight. We will see how things go. have a great night.

Another Star Table runner done!!

I just finished the second table runner for my kids teachers.
I needed two teacher gifts and now that is done.

Woohoo!!!

There is so much to do, and so little time.

I worked today, and last night. I am working day shift all weekend.
My next day off is Wednesday.
So, I am going to be sewing in the evenings.
I do get tired easily.
I sometimes struggle with balancing work and home stress.

So, I am going to have to pace myself.

I need to start another hand stitching project.
That always relaxes me.
I usually have one on the go.
Maybe I will do one of those Christmas stitcheries
from the the Gum Tree Designers.
I do love their projects.
I have their blog button in my sidebar if you have not visited there yet.

I hope you all have a great weekend.
It has been very cold and windy here.
We got 22 cm of snow on Wednesday, then rain, then it froze.
So everything is very icy.
So if you are out there walking around, be very carefull.

P.S. I thought I should show you both table runner together.
They are the same, but different. LOL!!

I am back!!! My computer is fixed!!!

Hi everyone! I am so glad to be back. My computer is finally fixed. We do need a new keyboard though. But we will get that after Christmas. Thank you so much to all of you who have left comments on my pictureless posts. Thanks for hanging in there. I have added all the pictures to those posts. So if you did not go over to my flickr account, I posted them.

I made a Christmas table runner as a teacher gift. My daughter claimed it for her teacher. I have started a second one. But I am not done that one yet.

I also made a skirt for my daughter. It is going to be part of her Christmas outfit. I wanted to make something out of the material I had. So she will be able to wear this one into the summer. I just have to finish the top to go with it and get matching tights. I plan to make a headband to go with the outfit too. I made it using the Pink Fig pattern, The Mish Mash skirt and top! I love this pattern. The instructions were great and it goes up to size 12. Very cute pattern. I will share another picture once the whole outfit is done.

I am so glad to be back online. Christmas is fast approching. Ahhhh! Well I hope you are all well.

Happy Stitching!

A cupcake handbag for my daughter

Hi everyone, I finally decided what I was going to use the cupcake fat quarter I received from Jennifer. She was one of my swap partners for the SewMamaSew fat quarter swap. I just loved it and wanted to make something for my daughter with it. I finally decided to make her a bag that she care wear over her shoulder. I really like the way it turned out. It's so cute and perfect for a nine year old girl. She will be able to put her Nintendo DS and the books she likes to read. She always has a book with her wherever we go. I hope you like it.
Happy Stitching!
