My Blackbirds quilt is finished!

Hi everyone!!

I have another finish!

Yep! I finished by Blackbird quilt designed by Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts.
I took a workshop with her at the beginning of the month. It was a lot of fun.
I'm so glad I got it done before the month  is over. It feels really great.
I quilted it on my Gracie frame using my old kenmore machine. It was a challenge since it was my first time. But I kept the quilting simple with straight and curvy lines across the top.
I used a soft polka dot flannel on the back, that I purchased at one of my local quilt shops. I pieced the batting from leftovers I had. The binding was made from two of the blacks that I used for the birds.

All in all, I'm really happy with it. The quilting is not my best. But it's still super cute, I hope you like it!!

Bloggers Quilt Festival Fall 2016

Hi everyone,

I have just finished this quilt this afternoon. This one has been in my UFO pile since March 2011. I'm very excited to have it all done. This is a sweet baby quilt sampler that I designed. I used the fabric itself as the inspiration.
I free motion quilted this on my domestic sewing machine. I have an Elna Lotus machine that my mom gave me a few years back. It's a great little machine, but it hates free motion quilting. I made it work, and got it done though.

This quilt is 37.5 inches wide by 43.5 inches long. I backed it with a super soft flannel.

I'm so glad to have this UFO off my list. Now, I have a finished baby boy quilt ready to go in case I need a gift.

My 16-patch star quilt progress!

Hi everyone,

I've been making more 16-patch star blocks from my scraps.
I decided to turn these blocks into a baby quilt.
I have the center of the quilt done.
I still have to put the border on, but I love the way its looking.

I hope you like it!

I have another finish!!!! Yeah!!!!

Sew, this has been a productive month for me.
I just finished my "Sail Away" quilt.

I embroidered waves under the boats and wales with medium blue embroidery thread.
I backed the quilt with Cuddle Chenille.
It is extremely soft and warm.
I quilted waves in the center and stippled in the border.
My quilting is not the best, but this is a very thick quilt and it took a lot of work.
I used my old Kenmore to quilt it.
I really love the finished product.
I hope my niece and great nephew love this quilt.
I designed it just for them.

I have a completed quilt top!

Hi everyone,

I've had this quilt in the making for a while now.
It should have been completed a long time ago.
But for some reason, I lost interest in it.

Tonight, I got energized and finished the top.
This is an original pattern by me.
I designed it, especially as a gift for my niece.

Now, I just have to baste it and quilt it.
I call it:

Sail Away

I hope you like it.

I have a finish!!!

Yup!

I finally have a finish to share.
I know.....it's been a while.

I'm calling this one...."Marlon's Paws"

See all the little tiny paws going across the quilt.
This is going to a Chihuahua.
To keep him warm during the cold winter months.
I hope you like it!!!

Finally getting some sewing done...

Wow! It's been over two weeks since my last post. I've been so busy.
My kids were in a school play last week and we have been running like crazy with everything going on.
With working, and fund raising, bake sales, basketball, air cadets, play practices and performances, house cleaning....well a bit of house cleaning anyways. It's been crazy busy. My house is such a mess right now. Oh well, I'll get to it eventually.

Yesterday, I finally got a chance to do some sewing.
I finished making the center of my mini jelly filled quilt top.
I just need to add the border.
This was all made from my stash.
It's a bright quilt.
I think it will be great for a little boy.
It will make a great play mat as it is bigger then I thought it would be.
I loved this pattern and will definitely make it again.
The pattern is Pint Size by Thimble blossoms.
There are two baby quilt patterns included in the pattern. Love that!!!
I used my 1.5 inch die and my GO! Cutter to cut the strips. It went so fast.

I also made a little table top flimsy using some of my scraps that I cut with the value die that camewith my GO! cutter. Red and Blue are my favorite colors. Once I have this one done, I will put it on my mantle.

This morning, I finished my March blocks for Felicity in the Maple Leaf Bee.

I know I'm really behind.
I've been a bit overwhelmed with everything going on.
I could barely keep track of where I was supposed to be. Luckily, I didn't forget to pick the kids up anywhere. Things are slowing down now a bit. Yeah!!!

Anyways, I'll try to blog more now that things are a bit more quiet.
I do work night shift tonight and tomorrow.
But, I'll try to get some hand stitching done!!!

My Roundabout quilt is finished!

Hi everyone! I want to wish all Father's a wonderful Father's day.
I finished hand quilting and binding my Schnibbles Roundabout quilt.
I made the top a few months ago and finally got it all done today.
I really love this little quilt. It always makes me smile when I look at it.
It is made from leftovers I had from Snippets fat quarters that I had in my stash.
I even pieced the back with some of the bigger pieces and
used some of the leftovers to do a scrappy binding.
I almost used up all my Snippets fabric. I only have a tiny bit left.
So this was a good stash buster for me, and another UFO off my list. YEAH!!!
 I hope you like it!

My daughter's pincushion swap, a baby quilt in a day, and I won some giveaways

Well, My daughter wanted to do a swap since I've been participation in so many. She had only done a little bit of sewing. She wanted to make a crazy patch pincushion. She chose all the fabrics herself. Then I showed her how to use the iron, and used fusible web to put her little pieces of fabric to a basic square piece of material. I watched her closely during this process. Then I taught her different hand embroidery stitches for her to use on the edges. She did all the work herself. The only thing I helped her with was making the knots and the blind stitching to close the pincushion when it was stuffed. I'm so impressed at how well she did. She is swapping it with my Mom. Who also had never done a swap before. She was just as excited as my daughter. So my daughter is sending her pincushion in the mail today. Yesterday, My mother-in-law told me she was going back to Northern Ontario on Friday to go to a baby shower for one of her nieces. I asked her why she waited so long to tell me...I would have made her a baby quilt. Well, since I was off work yesterday, I decided to just whip up a simple baby quilt with stuff I had. So I got it all done in about 4 hours. I think that's quite good. I even machine stitched the binding. I had never done that before. It turned out nice. I wouldn't use that method too often, but it's nice to know I can manage it at crunch time. I hope you like it. It's very simple. I tried the wavy quilting that I've seen others used. I like it. All I had to do was wash the quilt. Then it would have that nice crinkly look.

On another note, I won two giveaways this week. I think it's been my lucky week. I won some wonderful bag patterns (package #3) from Carol's Crafty Creations. I'm so excited there are five beautiful patterns in the bundle. I can't wait to reason them. Carol has a great blog you should go check it out.

The second giveaway that I won was also amazing. I feel so fortunate to have won the entire Authentic pattern collection from Sweetwater. I entered their giveaway on there blog. The collection has 8 patterns in it. They have the cutest blog called makelifesweet. They often have giveaways, and tutorials. You have to go check it out.
Happy Stitching!!!

I have pictures of my quilt and the bag I made today!!

Hi everyone, Yesterday I finished my Whirlygiggles quilt. I really like it. It looks much better in person. I glad I can finally share it with you.
I also finished two bags to give the kids teachers as gifts. I only have pictures of the first one I finished. I show you the pictures of the other bags tomorrow. The first one I made is for my middle guys teacher. She is expecting a baby this summer. So, I thought I would make her a big bag to use as a diaper bag or just a carry all bag. I kept it really simple. It's a very bright bag because I used the fabric "Snippets" by American Jane. I thought it was appropriate for a baby bag. I made the handles long. His teacher is quite tall. So I hope that she likes that. She will be able to have it over her shoulder. I made the straps wide as well. I used a big white vintage button that I got from the thrift shop. It really goes well with this bag.

I hope you like my projects. It felt like I sewed all day. But I'm glad I got lots accomplished. Have a great day.
Happy Stitching!!
