What have I been up to....

Well, I took a blog holiday.
I had too many other things on the go,
and I didn't have any sewing to share.

We are in the process of renovating.
We have a pretty tight budget, and have been doing things as we could afford it.
But the last two weeks we did a lot of work.
Walls went up, wall paper came down, furniture was moved from one room to the next,
or stored in the garage.
We still have a ton of work to do.
But, we are getting there.

Yesterday, I went to yard sales around town.
There were probably 100 yard sales just in the west end of Kingston.
I was on the hunt for good deals, as in....very cheap!!
As the yard sales were nearing closing.. I happened upon this one with 2 dressers.
My daughter really needed a new dresser.
They wanted $30 dollars for a long dresser with a mirror and a tall dresser that matched.
They were in okay condition, the drawers all worked and were solid.
The dressers were made of a melamine and veneer, and the long dresser had a lot of damage on the top.
They were packing up there stuff so my husband decided to offer them $20.
And they took it!! Yeah!!

We loaded them into the truck, and brought them home.
I found one paint brush, primer, white paint and a clear sealer.
Yeah! I didn't have to buy anything to fix it.

My husband was unsure of me painting it.
I just ignored him, cleaned the long dresser up and got to work.

Today, I'm all done with the transformation.
Here's her Shabby Chic dresser.

This isn't the best photo.
I forgot to take a picture of it before I brought it in.
Once we move her room to a bigger bedroom, I'll take another photo.
(Hopefully, that will happen soon)

Here's a closer look.

I forgot to take a before photo of the dresser, but I'll show you the tall dresser to give you an idea of what it looked like before I painted it.

I decide to go the Shabby Chic direction since there were so many nicks and pieces of melamine broken on the long dresser.
The white matches her bed frame, and once she moves to the bigger bedroom,
the walls will be painted a darker colour.
(hot pink and dark grey)
So these will stand out nicely painted white.

Well, I'll try to do better with blogging.
I hope you are all well.

Hugs

You did a super job Ariane. I loved the part of the story where you ignored him and did it anyway. Hee hee, that's the way!
