Three small finished projects

This week I finished two mini quilts. Both of these mini quilts were UFO's. The first quilt is a tulip quilt that I started in April 2011. It just needed to be quilted and bound. Here it is.
I struggled with the quilting a bit because my machine was acting up. But I got it done and I'm happy about that.

The next little quilt is really a placemat. I made a pink one last February as part of the RSC15. I had made the quilt top but never shared it on my blog after that. Here is my finished blue placemat.
I love how this placemat turned out. I again had difficulty quilting it because my sewing machine is acting up. It keeps skipping stitches and breaking threads. I think I might have to bring it in for servicing.

My Mom moved to town last summer and I've helped her make a few small sewing projects. One of these projects is this table runner. The pattern came from the magazine Primitive Quilts and Projects Winter 2015. She did all the wool applique and embroidery and I quilted and bound it for her.
Surprisingly, my sewing machine didn't have any difficulty quilting this projects. I didn't have any skipped stitches or thread breakage. I was glad since this one doesn't belong to me. My mom was not sure she really liked this one before I quilted it because the original pattern was made on a dark brown background. I provided all the material and wool for this project for her. When I picked out the background fabric, I didn't have the pattern with me and forgot what the background was like. But once it was all quilted and bound she loved it.  I'm so glad. Now she is excited to make another small wool applique project.

Well, I'm still working on a bunch of project at once. I  get bored sometimes with one project and need to work on something else to keep my mojo going. I hope you like the projects I shared today.

Pink scrappy placemat

Hi everyone,

Today, I was sewing up a few more 3.5 inch pink blocks. I made a few more maverick stars, 9 patch and  a few shoo fly blocks. I decided to use them all in a placemat. I really needed new placemats, so this was a good way to start.
It had been almost 2 years since I did any free motion quilting. This was a great way to practice and see how my sewing machine managed it. My mom gave me my sewing machine last summer and this was the first time I tried free motion quilting with it.

I really like my placemat. It's completely made up of scraps from my scrap bin, including the backing and binding. Yeah for scrap busting. And it counts as a finish!!! Yeah!!! That's ever better.

Amazing packages in the mail!!!

I got home from work today and my husband said:
"Hey Honey, You got some more mail! How come you always get packages in the mail?"
Hmmmm! A little bit jelous I think! Well, he should be.

I got the most amazing package from Caryn @ Pieceful Chaos. She was my swap partner for the flickr placemat swap. She made me 6 wonderful matching snowman placemats. I just LOVE them. They are amazing. She made them out of the softess flannels. I feel so blessed to have received such a gift. Thank you so much Caryn. I'm so excited about them.

Then, I also received my package from Fahrenheit 350. She sent me a sample of her traditional sweet log. It was eaten by MOI in about 60 seconds. I did have to savor it a little. Mmmmmm!!! It was delicious and sweeeeeeeeet!!! I loved it!!! Thank you so much Kitty!!

As you can see, I was very excited after work. This just made my day. Thanks to both Caryn and Kitty. I'm so very blessed!!!!

My placemat quilt for PQS2

I joined the Placemat Quilt Swap 2 on flickr. It was my first flickr swap. I really had fun doing this swap and loved all the comments the others shared. We had a really great group. It was organized by krommama. Thank you so much for organizing a wonderful swap. I know it's a lot of work. But I really appreciate it.

My partner is piecefulchaos. I made her a maple leaf placemat with a matching potholder, 2 coasters and a little bag. She received it today. So now I am able to share it with all of you. I love the way it turned out. I purchased the Maple leaf paper pieced block pattern on etsy from Piece by Number. I love this maple leaf pattern. Then I designed the little placemat using the four blocks that I had made.

Then I decided to make her a potholder and some coasters with the leftover material. I thought a little bag to put them in would be handy, so I made one of those. It ended up a bit smaller than I wanted, but was still cute.
I hope you like what I made. I had a lot of fun doing it. I have to make myself some placemats with the maple leaf on it. Fall is my favorite season and I love to see the changing leaves. Well, that's all for now.
Happy Stitching!!

Merry Christmas!!!

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. My day has been great. I got up early with the kids and they opened all their presents. They were very excited with everything they got. My sister stopped by and brought me the cutest present. She made me a felt pincushion. I just love it. I needed one. I didn't have one yet.
I also gave a small gift. I made her two mats for the table. They can be used together like a table runner or just one. I think she really liked them. It has been a busy day. We had our dinner early because me husband had to work. But I'm very happy with they way everything turned out. Everyone was in the Christmas spirit.

It's my first day blogging!

Hi Everyone,

I've finally taken the plunge and decided to make a blog. I've been reading blogs for inspiration for a long time now. I am amazed with all the quilts and crafts that I have seen. I hope to share with you a few of my projects. I'm just a beginner quilter. I just started quilting last summer. I've done cross-stitching for many years, and have now started to try some embroidery. I just finished a Christmas gift I made for my mom. I don't have a very good sewing machine, so I did some hand stitching and some hand quilting. I also did some of the sewing with my machine. The table runner was hand-pieced and quilted. The place mats were sewn together with the machine and hand quilted.

I also made a bag. It was my first attempt at making one. I got the pattern out of the Australian Country Threads magazine. I just love the pattern. Mom should be getting her gift tomorrow. I'm not too worried about her seeing this before she gets it because she doesn't have a computer.

I also made a few Christmas ornaments. I just made my own pattern and tried it out to see if they would work. They turned out pretty good. It was a lot more work then I had expected. But it was fun.

Well, that's all for today. I hope to be able to share more with you soon.
