Distracted.....

Hi everyone,

I've been working a lot of overtime in the last few weeks. I haven't had many days off because of this. I'm not complaining because I need the extra money and I'm fortunate that I can get it. All my shifts have been 12 hour shifts. So, I've only done a little bit of sewing.

I just couldn't bring myself to work on projects that I considered brain intensive. Plus I just wanted to play with my fabric. I sewed up some tiny 2.5 inch bow tie blocks. These are so cute. I've no plans for these yet.

I also made a 6.5 inch Arkansas crossroads block, with my red 1.5 inch scraps.
It's also a super cute block.
The majority of my sewing has been on scrappy nine patch blocks for Butterfly Threads Scrappy Star Sew-a-long.
I've made all 48 coloured 9 patch blocks from step #1. I didn't use the strip method as I had a huge bag of 2.5 inch squares cut that needed to be used. Sorry, I don't have a picture of these. I need to make the background blocks now. But I haven't started that yet.
Did I need to start another project? No!!!!!
There are so many sew alongs this summer. I wish I could participate in them all. I probably have enough fabric. Lol! But I don't have the time. Oh well. I'm hoping to finish one quilt before the end of the month. I have several tops ready for quilting. I just need to chose one.
I hope you all have a great rest of the week!! Hugs !!

  1. I'm in the same boat as you. Too much fabric. Not enough time to sew. Oh well. When I retire, I won't need to shop for fabric...LOL! Love seeing your scrappy blocks!

  2. I really need to start quilting again and use all the patterns and fabrics I have, but I really don't think I can do it all, lol. Love your blocks, beautiful piecing.

  3. Overtime isn't fun but the extra pay is always appreciated. Nice work on your tiny sewing - blocks that is! Cute bow ties and the Road to Arkansas look terrific.

  4. Any little bit of sewing is progress. Sometimes life just gets in the way, but then it's feels that much better when you finally have time to get back to the sewing room for a decent stretch! Those bowties are super cute, and I think I need to make note of the crossroads block for next year's rainbow scrap challenge...

  5. I love the bow ties. I made a doll quilt out of that size BT and it was super cute. Any amount of sewing is good - even just 5 minutes!

  6. Don't work too hard... you need time to sew and relax :)

  7. Too much fabric, not enough time seems to be a common problem for quilters. Your little blocks are very sweet.
