A quilt top in progress....

Hi everyone!

I haven't been blogging much this month.
I've been super busy.
Today, I finally got to do some sewing!
I stared this morning to make a quilt for my daughters school teacher.
She's had the same teacher for the last two years,
and she just loves her.
She wanted me to make her a quilt.

I figured a lap quilt would be a nice gift.
I was inspired by these two quilts.
You can see them here and here.
I liked the idea of using narrow 1 inch strips with larger squares and rectangles.
My squares are 5 inches square and the rectangles are 5" x 10".
I've got 36 blocks made and part of the quilt top sewn together.
I'm using a fat quarter bundle of Heirloom by Joel Dewberry.
I've had this in my stash for a while.
This is a layer cake friendly pattern using my dimensions.
The colors in these photo's aren't true.
But it was dark when I took these.
I hope to have this top done tomorrow.
I'm running short of time.
Schools out next week.

Hugs

  5. That's a fabulous pattern ...I could see a layer cake and some charms squares would make a sizable quilt :-)

  7. This is beautiful!! What a lovely gift for a teacher; I am sure she must have been thrilled and will use it for years!! I looked at the two quilts which inspired you and I must say I love your choice of fabrics and placement much more than these. So now you have inspired me to use your idea for a charity quilt. I will share a pic when I get it finished.
