My first UFO finish of the year!!!!

Today I worked and worked on a my Between Charming Friends Quilt.
I wanted to finish one of my UFO's.
I had everything I needed to finish this quilt.
So, I quilted it and bound it all today.
I'm so happy it's done.

Here is the front.
And here is the back.
All it needs now is a label, then I need to wash and dry it.
It will look even better once it's all nice and crinkly.
What do you think?
Cute eh!!!!

My quilting is not perfect.
One of these days I'll get a better sewing machine, so that the quilting looks better.

I'm thinking of selling this one.
But, I get really nervous selling anything.
I always get so scared that they will see all the imperfections and want to give it back.
I'm not good with rejection.

Well, I have to work in the morning.
So, I'm going to bed now.

Hugs

  2. Nice! Question - (I'm a newbie, so I don't know these things) - to get the crinkly look you're after, do you skip prewashing and drying the fabrics before starting the quilt? Do you use cotton batting? Does it matter whether cotton or poly thread?

  5. Ariane, it looks wonderful. I'm glad you enjoyed my basis pattern. :-)

I wish you lots of success if you decide to sell it.

  6. Oh that is one beautiful quilt! You are doing the right thing by 'quilting' your quilts. Practice makes pretty near perfect! When I taught Machine Quilting classes...I encouraged my students to just keep quilting their quilts...even though they weren't perfect. It's how we get good at anything we do. So you go girl!

  7. It's beautiful Ariane and the quilting looks fine but I know what you mean about selling and putting yourself and your work out there. Most of the time only we notice the imperfections and they are only noticed by other people when pointed out to them. I'm sure it will sell quickly!

  8. I love it. It's so bright and cheerful. I much like you, see every mistake that I make, but never anyone elses in their work. You suppose that we are just to darn hard on ourselves? :-) If it's sold it's because the buyer loved it. Last year I took a class with Karla Alexander, she told us that she loves seeing quilters work, but hates hearing them say "I made a mistake here". Her theory is that if it bugs you enough fix it. If not, drop it and accept that it's finished. It seemed like a pretty strongly worded statement, but she met nothing bad, just to get over the fact that we are not perfect. I try to live by that. Try being the key words! :-) You have a beauty here. Take credit and run with it! :-) :-) :-)

  11. looks wonderful. Remember if you can't see the imperfections (that is what gives it character) from high above, then it is just perfect. If it wasn't 'perfect' then you know human hands and love had nothing to do with it, but rather a computerized machine.

  12. Looks wonderful to me. I never was able to see any imperfections on the quilts my dear MIL made us until I started quilting myself and now they make her creations even more special to me.

  16. I am the same way. I am thinking about selling my number 6 ufo, but I am unhappy about the crookedness of part of it. You should not be so hard on yourself. I think it is definitely a quilt that will sell and a beautiful one. Congratulations on finishing your ufo!!
