Hi everyone,
I hope you are all having a wonderful day.
Today, was a very special day for me.
I had a gift exchange with my friend Michelle.
We went out for a coffee/tea and I gave her a little mug rug that I made her.
I also gave her a nice mug and matching little plate and a fat quarter of snowman fabric.
She loves snowmen.
Here's the mug rug I made.
It's simple. But I really like it.
Now, she gave me a wonderful gift too!
I can't show it here, but let me just say that it almost brought me to tears.
I was so surprised.
Michelle is such a sweet friend.
I can't thank her enough.
It just made my day.
While we were having our coffee/tea,
she asked me what my word was for the Charming Girls Club.
At first I didn't know.
She talked to me about her word, then it really got me thinking.
I made my decision.
My word is: Simplify
I always make things so complicated for myself.
I always pick the difficult route, the complicated pattern.
And sometimes, I'm just making things harder for myself, more stressful.
So, this year I will try to simplify my life a bit.
In turn, that should help relieve some of my stresses.
Well, I've been really blessed this week with such generous friends.
Between my sister Michele, my friend Michelle, and Madame Samm,
I`ve just been so humbled to see how lucky I am.
Thank you!!!
Lots of hugs!!!!
I- really like your "word"---I have that stitched on a little pillow that I bought ==oh---awhile ago for sure--and it still means something to me--and it does work==so let that word work it's magic on you!!!

Lovely word for the year. When stressed, always take stock in the simple things. I love the mug rug and now you have teased about what cannot be shown. Have a wonderful year and look forward to seeing and hearing how 'simplifying' has made you grow as a quilter and person.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mug rug! And you chose a great word. I hope you live a simplified, happy life in 2011.
ReplyDeletethat's such a good word... it's full of potential... it involves all kinds of great things like just breathing, relaxing, walking, watching the snow fall, reading, having a cup of tea... such a good word... perfect for you right now. :)
ReplyDeleteI too like the word you chose....
ReplyDeleteand your mug rug is adorable.
Hmm....I wonder what she gave you that you cannot show?!?!? =)
ReplyDeleteYour rug is beautiful and I think simplify is an excellent word. I have increasingly been trying to simplify my life. Sometimes we have no choice in the matter...it's all good though. =)
I REALLY like the word you have chosen Ariane. I like the "simplicity" of it...no pun intended.
ReplyDeleteAnd the mug rug - too, too cute. I'm sure Michelle was tickled with it along with the other goodies you so kindly gave her.
Hugs.
I love this word...always have! I think it is wonderful to have such a special friend that means so much to you. You have me curious about the gift that you can't show here...must be awfully special.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great word...that is something I have been working on for a long time. And your mug rug is adorable!

Good for you Ariane! Like your word ... maybe I wouldn't have to try so hard to 'persevere' if I'd simplify a bit :) It's a thought ... Very pretty mug rug you made. Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteGreat "WORD" choice!! We should all just simplify! MY word is HOPE. I'm going to blog about it this week. It took some time for my word to find me.

I agree with you. Simplify is a great mantra. I seem to make it more difficult after I have started the project. I make it harder, change the design, and add lots of detail when I started out with a very easy pattern in the first place. I can't leave them alone. ::sigh:;
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post over on stash buster.

Simplify is a really, really good word! Reminds me of adjusting priorities, and deciding what I really want to be spending my time doing...and then making that happen by process of eliminating other things. Sometimes the problem is just having too much stuff to maintain!
ReplyDeleteLove your mug rug and your word. I need to incorporate that into my life! Thanks for sharing this and the great post on Stash Manicure!
